  • The course is structured around the PEP and Competencias, as well as other key areas of preschool education.
  • Hula Hoop offers simplicity and ease-of-use, even for inexperienced teachers or those who are not proficient in English.
  • An additional nursery level makes the course appropriate for 2-5 year-olds.
  • The back of the Student’s Book contains cut-out material for each unit, as well as four seasonal activities for each level, corresponding to the holidays of Halloween, Christmas, Mother’s Day and Father’s Day.
  • Every Unit 10 is an evaluation unit, to consolidate children’s learning over the year.
The first lesson of each unit is a pictionary (a picture dictionary); to present the vocabulary that children will see and learn in the unit. It can also be used to play bingo and to check children have learned the vocabulary at the end of the unit.
All activities in the course are based on learning by competencies, which are abilities, knowledge and attitudes preparing children to face the world, for example: auditory discrimination, mathematical skills, and personal and social development. Each competency is represented by a specific color hula hoop at the foot of the page.
Clear instructions are given at the foot of every page, so teachers and parents can explain to children every step of the way. (These instructions are repeated in Spanish in the ‘glossary of instructions for parents’, on the enhanced Class CD).
Songs are an important part of the learning routine in Hula Hoop. Every unit has a song to present the pictionary vocabulary. With these songs, children start to develop oral skills and improve their pronunciation – while having fun!
The evaluation unit is a review of the language and vocabulary from all of the preceding units.
