The Pupil’s Book contains clear illustrations and instructions for carrying out practical investigations and discussion activities, with sections for assessing learning. Discussing ideas with partners and then with the whole class is central to the approach used in Macmillan Science. In this way, children practice and improve their spoken English, but are also active learners throughout each science lesson.

The main categories of living things (plants, animals and humans), materials, and the physical world are color-coded for easy reference and divided into topics (in levels 1-3) and units (levels 4-6), and repeated at each grade, reinforcing ideas learned earlier and developing these to a higher level.

There is a helpful glossary at the back of the Pupil's Book.
