Twelve main units of eight pages each focus particularly on lexis, grammar, spelling and writing. The unit openers offer eye-catching artwork and photographs, providing a link from the language to the real world, while the course characters ask questions that activate thinking, exploring and questioning. As the course develops and children acquire more language, the contexts in lesson 1 cover curriculum topics such as science, history, current affairs and children's rights. The key vocabulary from the unit is reinforced in a scene in the picture dictionary or, in later levels, the My Dictionary page.

Six Shape Up! sections provide four pages of review and consolidation on the topics and language from the two preceding units, including a project extension activity.

The Student Book contains the digital real-world e-Reader.
