The Student's Book has twelve units (ten in levels 9-10) of seven lessons each, covering reading and reading comprehension, Looking at Language (Word Focus in the two higher levels), grammar, including Grammar in Use, writing, and listening and speaking. It features various teenage characters, whose everyday conversations and discussions give learners exposure to contemporary English, spoken by their peer group, using functional language in a natural way. The characters also introduce learners to aspects of English culture.
The key skills practiced in English World prepare students for a broad range of tasks, including exam-type tasks, with each unit linking to the Exam Practice Book. There is a project every two units, based on one of the preceding units, for freer independent work.
